Life changing work in Arnhem Land: Occupational Therapist

Location: East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia

About Us: Born from a love of Arnhem Land our mission began with a simple belief – no one should have to leave their family and community to access therapy.

Our multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech Pathologists fly together to the most remote corners of East Arnhem Land, delivering culturally responsive, practical, and life-changing care. We work alongside families, local services and community leaders to help each person live as independently and meaningfully as possible.

Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist with a strong background in paediatrics, who is confident, adaptable and motivated by purpose driven work. This role offers a unique balance of autonomy, adventure and impact. You will travel by road and small aircraft to homelands and remote indigenous communities, delivering services that genuinely matter.

This is not a clinic-based role. It is hands on, community-embedded practice in one of Australia’s most extraordinary regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive functional assessments across home, school, and community, with a focus on understanding the cultural, physical, and emotional needs of patients, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Engage with clients in remote Indigenous communities to deliver culturally respectful care.
  • Develop practical, goal-directed intervention plans that enhance independence in daily living, community participation and self-care.
  • Deliver culturally responsive services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, working in partnership with families and local stakeholders.
  • Provide capacity-building interventions targeting cognition, executive functioning, sensory processing, motor planning and daily living skills.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and participate in case conferencing and service planning.
  • Work autonomously in remote settings while maintaining professional standards and accountability.
  • Prepare high-quality clinical reports, funding justifications and documentation in line with NDIS expectations.

Base Salary + Superannuation (Full-time, HP Level 2.1 - 2.4):

$110,335 – $121,633, pending level and experience

What We Offer:

  • Option for 4 Day full-time work week

  • 5 weeks annual leave.
  • Relocation assistance up to $10,000 (via NTPHN)
  • Access to fleet vehicles for client visits
  • 1 week paid professional development leave.
  • Paid birthday leave.
  • 4 Weeks, paid parental leave.
  • Access to additional NTPHN Scholarships and Bursaries (up to $20,000)

Comprehensive wellbeing package, including:

  • Free GP services.
  • Free 24/7 gym membership.
  • Free Reformer Pilates classes.
  • Free Physiotherapy.
  • Free Massage.
  • Complimentary EAP for you and your immediate family.

About You:

  • Confident working autonomously as an NDIS OT
  • Comfortable completing complex assessments and writing funding reports
  • Adaptable, resourceful and calm in remote environments
  • Passionate about culturally respectful practice
  • Strong communicator who builds long-term relationships
  • A grounded, dependable team member
  • Seeking meaningful work — not just a job
